We are offering garden signs as 3-piece sets, because no one has a garden with just one item! Ours are made out of 1/8″ thick steel. Why? Because those store-bought ones are made of thin sheet metal and bow/bend. Read at the bottom to see how to measure up the competition and be sure to ask or look how thick (thin!) theirs are.
When you check out, send us a message with which three vegetable names you would like. Your signs will be made on 16″ tall and however wide they need to be. The words Squash and Beets are 10.75″ Wide, but we may have to go wider if your vegetable word is longer. If it is two words, like “Spaghetti Squash,” we can put them on one sign, but we will have to count it as 2 of the 3 signs in your order. Just start up a conversation and we will work it out. We do not mark up shipping, so your price per piece drops as you add more from our store!
We can ship them as raw steel, sealed, rust-started, matching paint on them all, or coordinated based on a color we think matches the veggie involved.
With these, they are thick enough to withstand whatever your gardening throws/grows on it!
Does Thickness Matter? YES! But it can be confusing because a lot of ads say “heavy duty,” “thick,” or “very durable,” but those are just words. Some ads will tell you it is a particular gauge, but if you are like us, these approaches make us feel like a goat looking at a watch – – pretty confused! So, in this listing we use 1/8″ thick metal. Let’s put that in a list of thicknesses using common coins:
1/8″ = .125″ = 11 Gauge = Thicker than a Quarter and a Dime Stacked on Top of Each Other (2.4% Thicker). It is 250% thicker than 18 Gauge and 60% thicker than 14 Gauge.
5/64″ = .078″ = 14 Gauge = Barely Thicker than a Nickel (1.6% thicker).
1/20″ = .05″ = 18 Gauge = Almost as Thick as a Dime (it is 6% short)
If you are in Hawaii or Alaska, please send us a message. We are subsidizing the shipping cost already and we are not sure if we have to charge extra to serve our far-away States. If you are interested, however, strike up a conversation with us and we will see what we can figure out for you.
